Fireside Chat #9: Vision & Self-Trust

Knowing the difference between true vision and pressurised ideas.

Hello beautiful friends,

Last week, I hosted a live Fireside Chat on one of my favorite topics: vision and how to build the self-trust required to live into the unfolding of said vision.

We explored some deep questions that I sourced from you (thank you):

  • How do I know if the vision I’m holding is real, or just an idea?

  • How do I stay committed to something that feels so far away—or constantly changing?

  • And how do I let my vision unfold slowly from soul, rather than rushing to make it happen from ego?

Here’s a taste of what came through in our time together…

The Truth About Vision

Often, we glimpse a future version of ourselves that may emerge as a picture, a feeling, a knowing.
It might come quietly:
You see yourself as a mother. Or living close to the land. Or leading something sacred.

But what happens next?
We try to map the whole path. And when we can’t see how to get from A to Z, we doubt it altogether.

In my experience, vision doesn’t always come with clear steps.
It arrives more like a signal than a plan.

A true vision won’t always feel exciting or urgent. It will feel anchored.
It lives in the body, not just the mind.

I have found that vision pulls you gently and inconsistently. It tends to exist and be present even when your life has slowed right down or things feel uncertain.

Recommitting Again and Again

Vision asks for your commitment. But not just once.
It’s relational and you will turn to it over and over again.

This is where I really find you get quite stuck because you’re often looking for certain results outside of you versus the quality of your internal commitment.

For me, this all comes from self-trust. This is the secret sauce.

When you trust yourself to stay, to pivot, to take imperfect steps…
You stop abandoning yourself when doubt shows up.

As I’m sure you’ve experienced over and over again, doubt, fear, insecurity, are all part of the make-up of trusting yourself and the vision for your life.

I have found that offering to you that instead of needing to have it all figured out, you work on learning to listen more deeply and more lovingly.

You learn to the next small, grounded step.

You learn to treat commitment like a gentle ritual, not a rigid rule.

Soul vs. Ego: Slowing Down to Listen

There’s a difference between a vision born of ego and one born of soul.

Ego says: Hurry up. Be impressive. Prove something.
Soul says: Be here. Listen. Wait for the right timing.

Ego visions often come with pressure.
Soul visions unfold more like seasons.

They ask you to slow down, to tend your inner ground, to become available.

Real vision isn’t a performance.
It’s a becoming.

Personally, any time you come at me with tonnes of pressure and urgency with how you’re suppose to be working towards your vision, I’m always suspicious that you’re being led by your ideas and shoulds versus something deeper.

Does this feel true for you? What’s happened for you when you let go of pressure and ideas and softening into seasonal timing?

Want to Go Deeper?

Everything we spoke in this episode points back to this core truth:
Without self-trust, vision feels overwhelming. With it, anything becomes possible.
